The local name ‘Jelení zahrada’, meaning Deer Garden, was documented for the first time in the 18th century. Even then, the original plan of the garden’s function was a game-park.

Now known as ‘Jelenka’ by locals, it covers seven hectares and is situated at the northern foot of the castle slopes. In the central part you'll find a car park or restaurant. The ‘Restaurant Jelenka’ has a strong reputation as a location to go for authentic Czech cuisine. There is a playground where you can take your kids as well.

Take a short walk and listen to the sounds of river

It's a place to calm down before entering the busy parts of the town. You'll be surrounded by trees that grow between the castle buildings and the Chvalšinský creek lea. They're a mix of broad-leaved trees and dense bushes. The green part consists of plants of various ages. The youngest are the lime and maple-alleys right in the area of the parking lot.

Eat fruits right from the tree in Jelenka

Sallow, aspen, alder, and sycamore occupy both banks along the stream, while new plantings of bushes and trees cover the western part of the garden. When you enter the eastern right-bank section, you'll notice that it has an entirely different nature than the rest of the garden. You'll get to enjoy many fruit trees and if you're lucky you might be able to pick up and eat local cherries, apples or plums.

Disc golf park in Krumlov

Disc golf enthusiasts will be happy to learn that the town of Český Krumlov now has a fresh new nine-hole disc golf course. Great place where you'll find new sports entertainment near the historical center. One of the advantages is that entrance is free. Disc golf is a physically easy sport that may be played by families with young children as well as groups of senior citizens. The aim of the game is, like golf, to hit the basket with as few strokes as possible. The winner is the one who completes the entire course with the least number of shots.
